Covid-19 has at one point or another turned many lives upside down. How we respond is an individual thing. I have heard people say we are all in the same boat. We are not!
We are each in our own boat navigating the same body of water.
Those who stay in resistance to what is happening are rowing up stream without a paddle. It makes the journey twice as hard and almost impossible to navigate.
Resistance is part of the natural process, so please don’t make yourself wrong. Have compassion for the fear and beliefs behind your resistance. Understand and then move past them. You may not realize you are in resistance until you read the examples below and recognize yourself.
Do you feel anxiety and fear and even depressing thoughts about Covid and the effects on your life? Do you struggle to move past excuses for why your life is the way it is? Do you spend all your energy wishing things were different instead of using that energy to creatively think outside the box? Do you feel like the victim in your story? Are your emotions tied up in knots and do you feel stuck? Do you struggle to picture your future in a positive context? If any of these apply, you are in resistance.
Resistance to “what is” limits our choices and cuts us off from a range of available options. Have you heard the saying: “What you resist, persists?” That is exactly what happens with resistance. The Universe gives you more of what you think about.
Ultimately, the choice is yours. It seems inane to ask if you’d prefer more negativity or more positivity in your life, but that is the choice. When you can let go of the need for things to be different, things open up. Envision squeezing every muscle in your body tightly for 15 seconds. Then let it all go and relax your muscles. The first position is what resistance feels like; the second is acceptance and surrender.
When you stop fighting what is, and stop looking at what’s wrong vs what’s right, you move into acceptance and surrender. It’s not about giving up; it’s about settling into the reality of your life to make changes.
This is a powerful life-changing tool, the first step to alter your existing life and create the future you desire. It also impacts your trust and faith in the Universe. When you can accept that everything happens for the evolution of your soul, you can become more the observer and co-creator of your life and not its helpless and hopeless victim. When you surrender, you gain the freedom to be present and have access to previously unavailable options.
This letting go opens you to feelings of positivity and creativity you couldn’t see when you fought what is. It allows you to look outside the box and give up the past for the possibility of a brighter present and an optimistic future.
It is a shift in perception. The rewards are worth the effort. I invite you to give it a try. What do you have to lose, except unhappiness?
